Wine Gang news January 2009
February issue now published
For the first time we dip a toe into the En Primeur market, with a detailed look at 40 of our favourites from the Burgundy 2008 vintage, on sales at various merchants now, with the wines
due on these shores later in 2010 or 2011. From the high street we taste Morrisons' and Majestic's latest offerings, and from the independent sector we look at online companies
Lebanese Fine Wines and FromVineyardsDirect, as well as specialist importers Bibendum Wines and Liberty Wines.
Meet (and taste with) the Gang 2010

The date is now confirmed for a repeat of our Christmas Wine Fair, which will once again be held at Vinopolis in London, on November 6th 2010. The Fair will be another stand-out event on
the wine tasting calendar, so watch out for tickets going on sale over the summer, again with discounts for Wine Gang members. But before that, any members involved in the wine trade
can come along and meet us and taste our 100 top wines at the London International Wine Fair at Excel, May 18th - 20th. For the second year we will be choosing the Fair's themed 'Top 100',
and will have our own stand alongside the tasting area. We also hope to offer some special free tickets to non-trade Gang members in a competition next month - watch this space.
Did you know? Searching tips
Our database now has almost 4,000 tasting notes. The easiest way to find wines is using our 'Search' facility, accessed via the menu at the top of each page. There's a free text box for
you to search for whatever you want, but many people don't realise just how powerful the 'Refine the search' criterea are too. Below the free text
box you can choose to 'Refine the search...' by adding:
- Newsletter (specify a date, or range of dates, when our report appeared)
- Retailer (choose from any retailer we have ever featured)
- Price (specify 'up to', 'more than' or 'between' price ranges)
- Score (specify 'up to', 'more than' or 'between' points ranges)
- Vintage (specify the wine vintage you are interested in)
These criteria can be stacked together, to ask complex questions like "Show me all Burgundy wines reviewed since August 2009, costing between £15 and £30 and
scoring more than 89 points".
March issue
March's issue will be published around March 4th. Don't miss it!
